Answer: Robert Schumann More information: Clara's father, pianist Friedrich Wieck, disapproved of her relationship with Robert Schumann and forbade them to marry. However, they did eventually do so - a day before Clara's 21st birthday, when she would have no longer needed her father's consent, most likely just to spite him as they had alreday taken him to court on the matter and prevailed. Clara Wieck would go on to become Clara Schumann, the most-celebrated female composer from the 19th century.
